1. Purpose of the Label
The ItsNotAI Verified Label is intended to indicate that the content to which it is applied was assessed and, at the time of review, determined to be unlikely to have been directly generated by artificial intelligence (AI).
The label is issued following a structured, best-effort assessment process designed to evaluate whether submitted content appears to be human-created, based on the information and tools available at the time of verification. The label does not constitute a guarantee or absolute determination of non-AI authorship.
2. Verification Process
ItsNotAI evaluates submitted content using a combination of proprietary methodologies and third-party AI detection tools. These tools analyze characteristics such as linguistic, stylistic, statistical, or visual patterns and generate probabilistic indicators that inform our assessment.
To support the evaluation, applicants may optionally submit supplementary materials, including but not limited to drafts, timestamps, version histories, or work-in-progress documentation. Such materials may be reviewed manually by our team as part of the verification process.
For the sole purpose of assessing AI authorship likelihood, submitted content may be processed by trusted third-party service providers. These providers are required to comply with applicable data protection laws and contractual confidentiality obligations.
ItsNotAI does not evaluate, endorse, or make representations regarding the content’s subject matter, message, originality, legality, factual accuracy, or intellectual property status. Our assessment is strictly limited to whether the content appears to have been directly generated by AI.
If, based on our review, the content is determined to be likely AI-generated, a Verified Label will not be issued. In such cases, verification fees are non-refundable.
3. Limitations of Verification
Users acknowledge and agree that:
- We do not fact-check content.
- We do not verify ownership, originality, or legal compliance.
- We do not certify that content is free from indirect, assisted, or partial AI influence.
- We do not endorse or take responsibility for any claims, views, or implications associated with labeled content.
AI authorship detection is an evolving and inherently uncertain field. Current tools rely on probabilistic assessments and may produce false positives or false negatives. The boundary between AI-generated and human-created content is not absolute, particularly where AI tools are used in an assistive or indirect manner.
Accordingly, the Verified Label represents ItsNotAI’s good-faith judgment based on available data at the time of review and should be understood as an independent signal, not a definitive or permanent certification.
4. Public Display and Content Listing
Upon successful verification, a public verification page is created, displaying the label identifier and a reference to the verified content. By default, the creator’s name and a project title or description may be shown to enable third-party verification.
Users remain solely responsible for maintaining the accuracy, accessibility, and integrity of the linked content. ItsNotAI does not claim ownership of verified content; all rights remain with the respective rights holders.
Users may request removal of the verification record or public reference at any time, free of charge. Requests to modify existing verification data or links may be subject to an administrative fee. All such requests may be submitted to info@itsnotai.org.
5. Disclaimer of Liability
ItsNotAI assumes no responsibility or liability for the content to which a Verified Label is applied, nor for any consequences arising from the use, interpretation, or reliance on the label.
This includes, without limitation:
- Intellectual property or copyright disputes
- False, misleading, or incomplete submissions by users
- Reputational, commercial, or legal consequences associated with labeled content
The Verified Label reflects a best-effort assessment at a specific point in time and does not constitute a warranty, endorsement, or guarantee of authorship, authenticity, or legality.
6. Revocation and Misuse
ItsNotAI reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to deny, suspend, or revoke a Verified Label at any time to protect the integrity of the system.
Revocation may occur, including but not limited to, the following circumstances:
- The content is determined or reasonably suspected to have been generated, in whole or in part, by AI
- False, incomplete, or misleading information was provided during verification
- The content or its presentation has been materially altered after verification
- A credible complaint or misuse report is received
- New information emerges that would have materially affected the original assessment
Such actions may be taken without prior notice where necessary to maintain trust in the verification framework.
7. Data Protection and Privacy
Personal data is processed solely for the purpose of providing the ItsNotAI verification service. This may include contact details, submitted content, and supporting materials.
All data processing is conducted in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Users may exercise their data protection rights, including access, rectification, or deletion, by contacting info@itsnotai.org.
Further details are available in our Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of these Terms.
8. Cookies
Our website uses cookies for essential functionality and analytics, as described in our Cookie Policy. Users may manage cookie preferences via browser settings or available cookie controls on the website.
9. Intellectual Property
The name ItsNotAI, together with all associated logos, label designs, identifiers, and visual assets, constitutes protected intellectual property. Unauthorized use, reproduction, modification, or misrepresentation is strictly prohibited without prior written consent.
10. Amendments to These Terms
ItsNotAI may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the website or other appropriate means. Continued use of the services or the Verified Label after such changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
