1. Purpose of the Label
The “ItsNotAI” label indicates that the content it is applied to was likely not generated by artificial intelligence (AI).
There are two versions of the label available:
- Self-Declared Label
This version is available for download from our website free of charge and may be used by anyone, being solely based on the user’s personal declaration. We do not review any content associated with the self-declared label. - Verified Label
This version is issued after a review intended to assess, to the best of our ability, whether the submitted content was not generated by AI.
2. Verification Process
We use our own software as well as third-party AI detection tools to assess the submitted content. Such content is shared with third-party software providers solely for the purpose of AI-authorship evaluation. We require these providers to comply with data protection obligations under applicable laws. These tools analyze linguistic patterns or image colour patterns to provide probabilistic results that help guide our decision. Applicants are encouraged to submit optional materials, such as drafts, timestamps, or work-in-progress photos, which may be reviewed manually.
We do not evaluate or make any claims about the content’s subject matter, message, originality, legality, or accuracy. Our assessment is limited solely to whether the content appears to have been directly generated by AI.
In case we believe the content was likely generated by AI, the Verified Label will not be emitted and any fees related to the verification will not be refunded.
3. Limitations of the Verification
We do not fact-check the content.
We do not verify ownership, originality, or legal compliance.
We do not endorse or take responsibility for the views, claims, or other implications of any labeled content.
AI-authorship detection technology is still developing and may produce inaccurate results, based on a probabilistic assessment. Furthermore, the line between AI-generated and human-created content is not absolute, and may involve indirect or partial influence from AI, making it impossible to verify with 100% certainty.
The Verified Label reflects conduct a best-effort evaluation based on the data available at the time of review and therefore only indicates our judgement, that the content does not seem to have been directly generated by AI, which may be subject to errors.
5. Content Display Options
After verification is complete, a link to the content is listed along with its ID on our website to allow the public to view the verified item.
We encourage users to maintain the accuracy and availability of the linked content. We do not claim ownership, and all rights remain with the copyright holder.
If the user requests removal of the verification record or associated link, we will honor the request without charge. For modifications of the link or other data associated with the labeled content, a fee may apply. Such request can be made at contact@itsnotai.org
6. Liability Disclaimer
We are not responsible for the content to which the label is applied or for any consequences resulting from the use or misuse of the label.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Intellectual property or copyright issues
- False or misleading declarations by users
- Disputes about the accuracy of the label
- Reputational or commercial consequences
7. Revocation and Misuse
We reserve the right to deny or revoke a Verified Label at our discretion. This may occur under any of the following circumstances, including but not limited to:
- We find or reasonably suspect that the content was generated, in whole or in part, by artificial intelligence
- False, incomplete, or misleading information was provided during the verification process
- A credible complaint, report, or concern is raised regarding the use of the label
- The content or its presentation is altered after verification
- New information becomes available that affects the original verification outcome
8. Data Protection and Privacy
We collect and process personal data solely for the purpose of providing the label verification service. This includes contact details and submitted materials. The data is processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Users have the right to access, correct, or delete their personal data and can do so by contacting us at contact@itsnotai.org. A separate Privacy Policy is available and explains in detail how data is collected, stored, and used.
9. Cookies

10. Intellectual Property
The name “ItsNotAI” including all related logos, label designs are protected intellectual property. Unauthorized use, reproduction, or alteration is prohibited.

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will give notice through our website or by other appropriate means. Continued use of the label or verification services after updates take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
